Sad news has emerged from the Cleveland sports community as one of the Cleveland Browns’ most iconic and dedicated fans, Richard “Rick” Malone, was found dead in his home in Lakewood, Ohio, just west of downtown Cleveland.
Malone, aged 64, was a lifelong Browns supporter, known throughout the Dawg Pound for his face paint, orange-and-brown game day outfits, and booming voice that echoed through FirstEnergy Stadium every Sunday. He was a local legend among fans, having attended nearly every home game since the 1980s.
His sudden passing has come as a shock to friends, neighbors, and Browns fans across the country. According to early reports, concerned neighbors contacted authorities after not hearing from Malone for several days. Upon entering his home, officers found him deceased. He lived alone.
At this time, the cause of death has not been determined, and officials have ordered an autopsy.
Tributes have poured in on social media, with fans, friends, and even former Browns players sharing memories of Malone’s dedication and passion for the team. Many are calling for the Browns to honor him at an upcoming home game, with a moment of silence or a tribute on the stadium scoreboard.
The Cleveland Browns organization is expected to release an official statement soon.
More details will follow as they become available.
